Thera VR gives providers a clinically guided virtual reality therapy environment that helps children and teens build skills, engage in care, and make progress beyond the session.

With your therapist
The therapist is the clinician. The platform is the environment.
The Thera VR pathway

A child or teen begins with their clinician, gets comfortable, and enters Thera VR together.

Clinically appropriate virtual environments are selected to feel safe, relevant, and paced for each young person.

The clinician guides the experience in real time, helping children and teens practice skills inside Thera VR.
Designed for providers
Thera VR combines therapist-led care with evidence-based treatment and the neuroscience of virtual reality to support safe, structured practice and stronger patient outcomes.
Created by a therapist
“Thera VR is designed to give providers another meaningful way to help patients practice, engage, and progress.”
Treatments
Thera VR gives you calm, immersive spaces for the modalities you already use. You choose the approach, the environment, and the pace — and you guide every moment.
Named in Erin Bogdanski's 2023 JMIR case report.
Created by a therapist
“If the patient can have the opportunity to actually change what the therapist looks like, it does create a psychological comfort zone. … I’m still delivering the same clinical care.”

Thera VR is a tool you use inside your therapy session, not a separate service. You document and bill the session you deliver with the psychotherapy codes you already use, such as 90832, 90834 or 90837, in person or by telehealth where your payer covers it.
Use Thera VR in your telehealth sessions, alongside your usual telehealth workflow.

You bill for the therapy you provide. When you deliver psychotherapy using Thera VR, you document and bill that session as you normally would, as long as it meets the code's requirements. Whether a payer will also pay the VR add-on code (CPT 0770T) depends on the payer and the plan, so confirm with each payer and your billing specialist first.
CPT 0770T is a Category III add-on code for “virtual reality technology to assist therapy.” It is reported in addition to an eligible primary service, such as individual psychotherapy (90832–90838), family psychotherapy with the patient present (90847), multiple-family group (90849) or group psychotherapy (90853). It adds no therapist time; it represents the practice expense of the VR software. Category III codes are temporary and are not valued nationally. Medicare leaves pricing to local contractors, and some commercial plans treat the code as investigational. Check each payer's policy before billing it.

Thera VR is built for live, clinician-led sessions with young people in your office or at home. Telehealth billing rules — such as real-time audio-video requirements, consent, modifiers and place-of-service codes — are set by each payer and state. If a payer requires audio-video, run the session alongside your usual telehealth video platform. Check each payer's telehealth policy.
Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial. Plans are monthly; cancel anytime from your billing portal. Cancel during the trial and you won't be charged.
Thera VR works through licensed clinicians. Ask your therapist.
No. Thera VR is a tool for licensed clinicians and supervised associates and does not replace clinical judgment — clinicians remain responsible for assessment, diagnosis and treatment decisions. It is not an emergency service: if you or someone you know is in crisis, call or text 988 in the US.
